HUNTSVILLE — It was a milestone two decades in the making.

Big Daddy’s Fresh Meats, 21 Chaffey St., Huntsville, celebrated 20 years in business on April 30.

Mike Nichols, owner, said he opened the business in 2000 after deciding there was a need for a quality butcher in town. And it also gave him an opportunity to work for himself, he added.

He said he remained passionate about his work — and serving the community.

“I love good food,” said Nichols. “(And) it’s very rewarding when customers come in or call us to thank us for what we do.”

He noted, as Huntsville has grown over the years, he has had the opportunity to meet new community members and build relationships with them, too.

“(They) get to know they can count on us to provide them with excellent products,” he said.

And that commitment to community seemed to have kept the shop bustling, despite the COVID-19 crisis.

“It’s been very busy,” said Nichols. “I’ve been trying to help the community by searching out deals and passing them along to the locals.”

He expressed his gratitude to the shop’s customers.
