It won’t be long before the Birmingham area can get a big helping of Beaver nuggets and brisket.

Above, you can see drone footage of the new Buc-ee’s location taking shape off Interstate 20 in Leeds. Buc-ee’s has begun hiring for its Leeds location, set to open Jan. 25.

Leeds will be the second Alabama location, built off exit 140. The store exceeds 50,000 square feet and will have more than 100 gas pumps. The company, which is looking to hire up to 200 people, says it is conducting in-person interviews but asks all applicants to apply online first. To do so, click here.

The Texas-based mega-convenience store opened its first Alabama location in Baldwin County in January 2019, the first outside of the state of Texas.

Buc-ee’s is also planning to invest $35 million in its third Alabama location.

The travel center will be located on the southeast corner of the I-65 interchange at Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road. The interchange itself is undergoing a $27 million improvement project to handle increased traffic flow from the nearby $2.3 billion Mazda Toyota Manufacturing facility in Huntsville.

The company has also begun construction on its first South Carolina location.

Each store features Buc-ee’s mainstays, such as Beaver Nuggets - described as bites of caramel, sugar, and butter-coated corn puffs. Other menu items include Texas barbeque, in-house roasted nuts, homemade fudge, jerky and fresh pastries.
