Candidate forums set for Huntsville, Madison elections

A candidate forum has been set ahead of Aug. 25 municipal elections in Huntsville and Madison that will include the incumbent mayors of both cities.

The forums will take place next week with separate events for the mayoral campaigns of both cities as well as separate events for city council candidates of both cities. The forums will be conducted online.

On Aug. 11 at 6 p.m., the four mayoral candidates in Huntsville will take part in the forum: Incumbent Tommy Battle and challengers Jackie Reed, Maurice Shingleton Jr. and Andrew Woloszyn. At 7:30, the two mayoral candidates in Madison will participate in a forum: Incumbent Paul Finley and challenger Marc Highsmith.

The moderator for the mayoral forums will be Toni Terrell of Cumulus Media.

On Aug. 12 at 6 p.m., there will be a forum for the candidates for Huntsville city council in District 1 and District 5, followed by Madison city council candidates at 7:30.

The moderator for the city council forums will be Keneshia Deas of WZDX.
