Celebrate Black History Month at Burritt on the Mountain

burrittonthemountain.com

Bring your family to Burritt on The Mountain to celebrate African American Heritage for Black History Month.

Events will include a quilt artist discussion and presentations about the history of Black education in our area, both in Rosenwald Schools and higher education.

Families can join hands-on activities in their replica 1918 Rosenwald Schoolhouse presented by Burritt Education Staff.

Families can also try the modern treasure hunt called geocaching using GPS technology as you learn about Dr. Gladys West, a brilliant mathematician and one of the first black female scientists to work for the US Navel Weapons Laboratory. Her pioneering work led to the development of our modern GPS system.

This event is included in regular Burritt admission or is free to Burritt members. Become a member!
