The world’s LONGEST running Cigar Box Guitar Festival returns THIS WEEKEND!
This Friday, on September 10th, you will have a chance to enjoy in a beautiful performance by The Cigar Box Serenaders at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment!
The Cigar Box Serenaders are an upcycled musical instrument band from New Orleans, LA. Their instruments can’t be found in a music store: you’ll see and hear cigar box guitars, tin can banjos, dresser drawer basses, found sound trash kits, electrical pipe vibraphones, and more! The band plays an eclectic mix of funk, swing, and blues, performing songs by The Meters, Thelonious Monk, as well as original compositions.
The band currently has two albums out: “Cigar Box Serenaders” and “Sounds Like Garbage Live!”. The band is a featured artist at the annual Samantha Fish Cigar Box Guitar Fest in New Orleans.
This year marks the 13th annual Concerts on the Dock and it is sure to live up to it’s longevity! As per every proceeding year they will continue to strive to bring our music loving community the freshest sounds available without sacrificing quality for quantity. Their mission is to bring all who attend the best in local, regional, and national acts they simply would not see anywhere else in town and provide those acts with a gracious built in audience hungry for the next big thing.
This can’t happen without you so bring friends, picnics, and pets on a leash to Huntsville’s most accessible concert series and join us under the water tower. Concerts on the Dock are always free to attend though we do charge $5 for parking on property. Please carpool!
The festivities continue on Saturday from 11 AM – 7 PM with free performances all day and fun, family-friendly activities, like Build Your Own Cigar Box Guitar and the Cigar Box Guitar Traveling Museum!
