During Wednesday’s electronic town council meeting in Huntsville a number of recommendations were approved by council.

Recommendation # 1 was for the Director of Operations and Protective services and the Chief Building official to enter into agreements with existing businesses to expand into sidewalks, roadways or parking spaces to allow these business to safely operate an outdoor patio.

Also approved by council was a recommendation for the Director of Development Services to grant exemptions for refreshment trucks. Councilor Stone noted that caution should be exercised by staff against allowing any outside refreshment trucks that would harm our existing businesses that are struggling to survive. Waiving of park permits for qualifying businesses was also approved. Staff noted that an example of this would be a yoga business that requires more space to operate safely, and our parks would fulfill this requirement.
