A café space on Huntsville's Main Street has a new operator.

Muskoka North Good Food Co-op hosted a soft launch of its new food co-operative espresso bar, café and Ontario marketplace at 26 Main St. E. on July 31.

"We are delighted that this new venture will assist in scaling-up and growing our producer members' businesses and also build our growing membership," stated the co-op in a member newsletter.

The space became available as Whimsical Bakery, the previous occupant, closed its retail storefront. The bakery continues its custom order business in Huntsville, though, from an offsite commercial kitchen and has collaborated with the co-op on its new enterprise.

The non-profit co-op, which continues to operate its grocery market, café and commercial kitchen at 1 Crescent Rd., Huntsville, said its Main Street location would offer soups, sandwiches, salads, baked goods, breads, beverages and more in collaboration with member-producers.

"Although we have been doing well in our tucked-away location (on Crescent Road), we have always been aware that access isn't easy for all," said the co-op. "A more prominent location would truly assist in helping our members' businesses grow and help scale-up a growing co-operative food system in our region."

The co-op hours on Main Street are Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn more at or contact 705-789-0020 or [email protected].
