Wing restaurant chain plans new restaurant on U.S. 280

A restaurant that specializes in wings is targeting the metro area for another Alabama location.

Wingstop, which currently has restaurants in Fort Payne, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, Valley and Mobile, is opening a location along U.S. 280 in an Inverness shopping center.

The restaurant will be between On Tap Sports Cafe and an H&R Block at 830 Inverness Corners. The location formerly housed a Cowboy Chicken that closed roughly three years ago.

Company leaders have not confirmed a date for opening, but its signage is already on the building and coming soon and hiring now signs are present.

Wingstop specializes in wings and offers 11 signature flavors including lemon pepper, legendary, buffalo hot, hickory smoked barbecue and more.

The publicly traded company began in Texas in the 1990s and now has more than 1,400 restaurants open across the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
