Wingstop has opened its first metro Birmingham location along U.S. 280 and doesn't plan to stop there.
Franchisee Ronnie Norcross opened a restaurant at 830 Inverness Corners between On Tap Sports Cafe and an H&R Block this week. The location formerly housed a Cowboy Chicken that closed roughly three years ago.
The company said next up are four secured locations in the metro area: Hoover, Roebuck, Bessemer and Center Point.
Wingstop specializes in cooked-to-order, hand-sauced wings and offers 11 signature flavors including lemon pepper, legendary, buffalo hot, hickory smoked barbecue, garlic parmesan, Hawaiian and more. Fresh-cut, seasoned fries and made-from-scratch ranch and bleu cheese dips are available.
Wingstop also currently has restaurants in Fort Payne, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, Valley and Mobile.
The publicly traded company began in Texas in the 1990s and now has more than 1,400 restaurants open across the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
