Join the\u00a0Humanities Center<\/a><\/strong>, the\u00a0College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences<\/a><\/strong>, and the\u00a0Department of Philosophy<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for the first in a series of public lectures by Professor\u00a0Bryan Van Norden<\/a><\/strong>, 2023\u00a0Visiting Eminent Scholar.<\/p>\n

Professor Van Norden is a leading international scholar of Chinese philosophy, a prominent advocate of multicultural philosophy, and the author of\u00a0Taking Back Philosophy: A Multicultural Manifesto<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>(Columbia University Press, 2017). His first public lecture at UAH,\u00a0Learning from Chinese Philosophy<\/em>, defends\u00a0the idea that Chinese philosophy is nuanced, insightful and relevant to problems discussed in modern Western academic philosophy.<\/p>\n

This event is free and open<\/strong> to anyone.<\/p>\n

Subsequent lectures in this series will occur on Thursdays, 4-6pm, in Morton Hall 102.<\/strong><\/p>\n
